Delphi Day 1:
When we arrived at Delphi on the 20th of September, we were firstly shown to our rooms in the hostel. We quickly unpacked our stuff and got ready for our first activity, our group went surfing. We were given wetsuits and then we got a bus to the beach, and we changed into the wetsuits there. The instructor then gave us a surf board each and explained to us about safety hazards such as staying in between the two flags on the beach. He then showed us how to surf telling us to paddle at first to catch the wave then quickly try to balance yourself to stand. We then got into the water, the first few minuets everyone was freezing but then once we were used to the water people began to surf. I found it very enjoyable and it was definitely my favourite activity we did. I thought the instructors were very helpful to those who were struggling. After surfing we got back to the hostel where we met the other group who had done high ropes. We all went down the kitchen and got dinner that was chicken curry. After dinner we went up to the room and had showers and got ready for the evening activity which was from 7-9pm. There we took part in team bonding games. Once that finished we went back to the kitchen for supper which was cookies. After that we went back to our rooms and talked for a while before we were told lights out at 11 and had to go to sleep.
Day 2:
The next morning we were woken up at 7:45 and went down for breakfast, where there was a choice of sausages, beans, toast or cereal. After breakfast we went back to our rooms and got ready for the hike. We then met at the court and got a bus to a mountain and began walking the 17km hike. There was many steep parts which was very hard to walk up. We then stopped for lunch half way through for 45 mins. Our legs were aching as we hopped on the bus and went back to the hostel and we got spaghetti bolognese or pasta bake for dinner . We then had showers and got ready for our evening activity which was the campfire. There we sang songs and toasted some marshmallows on the fire. It was a very enjoyable night, then we went to bed and chatted before falling asleep.
Day 3:
This was the last day at Delphi. We were woken at the same time of 7:45 and went down for breakfast. We then got ready for our last activity which for our group it was high ropes. We were shown how to put on our harnesses and then walked to the high ropes. There was one called the leap of faith where you jumped off a high post and tried to hit two balls while hanging in the air. The second one was having to walk across a wire that was 20ft in the air and the climb up to another wire that was 30ft in the air. The last one was where 4 people had to stand on a platform and had to all lean back together to form a star shape and try not to fall. This was very scary and the platform was constantly trembling and shaking. We then went to the last high rope that was called the free-fall where your harness is strapped onto the ropes and you just jump and fall onto a foam mat. After that activity we went back to the hostel and got soup and a roll for lunch. We then got on the bus home around 2 and arrived back to the school at 5. Overall, I enjoyed Delphi and I thought it brought us closer as a group. But if I were to go again I would bring my own food.
